Diploma in Hospitality and Catering
We aim to work closely with schools by providing accredited programmes for students IN school. The students follow policies and uniform protocols in their capacity as members of their respective school communities. Our model of programme delivery includes work placement where the students will have practical hands on experience for portfolio work under the guidance of a suitably qualified and experienced mentor. This complements the curricula offered IN school.

These employer approved qualifications cover a good grounding for a variety of hospitality areas such as; front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, cookery and hospitality services all leading to employment opportunities. The course will be delivered over two years with 720 guided learning hours and attracts 280 UCAS points.

To gain a qualification, learners need to demonstrate that they have got a particular set of skills. They usually work with their tutor to review current skills and find the best way to gain new ones - perhaps by trying new things at work, or by studying.

For the qualifications in Hospitality and Catering learners will gain evidence in their workplace as well as learning with their tutor.
For learners aspiring towards Professional Cookery the following mandatory units must be studied:

• Maintenance of a safe, hygienic and secure working environment
• Maintain, handle and clean knives
• Working effectively as part of a hospitality team
• Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food

For learners aspiring towards Hospitality Supervision and Leadership the following mandatory units must be studied:

• Develop working relationships with colleagues
• Contribute to the control of resources
• Maintain the health, hygiene, safety and security of the working environment
• Lead a team to improve customer service
• Set objectives and provide support for team members
Learners studying a qualification in Hospitality and Catering will be able to work in a range of jobs such as; hotel receptionist, chef, bar tender and waiter/waitress.
